(More customer reviews)I bought this when looking for L'Oreal's Eye De Crease.Figured I would give it a try.I'm a woman of color, African American, medium skin tone and this works well.I was afraid my skin would look a bit chalky or cakey wearing this product but it doesn't at all.After a full day of wearing and a nap, here are my observations:

Product glides on smoothly and feels nice on skin.
It seems as though I needed less makeup and concealer to get the same desired affect on my face.I spent less time buffing my foundation (I use mineral powder foundation from Monave) and a goat hair kabuki brush.Sometimes I use a synthetic flat top brush but haven't yet with this product.
I napped (we have a toddler and I'm a stay at home mom) and my makeup appeared to be the same.I was surprised at this since I toss and move about while I am asleep.
Throughout the day, I touched my face and it felt very smooth, like I wasn't wearing any makeup at all.
When Baby and I hugged throughout the day, I didn't leave makeup on her clothes as I sometimes do.

All in all, I like this product.I wish there were another size available as tiny little half ounce jars of things just seems wasteful to me.All of that packaging for something so small.

Oh, I also have seborrheic dermatitis (though it is greatly controlled) and no flaking or skin irritation so far.

I like this product and would buy it again.I did not give it 5 stars because this is my first time buying and using a makeup primer, there may be something greater out there.I'll update after using the product over an extended amount of time.

Update:So, I've been using this product for a few weeks now and I REALLY like it.I forgot to wear it one day and there is a noticeable difference in makeup when I don't wear this product.We even went to the beach for a full day and my makeup was still great.At the end of the day, my face looks as good as it does right after I've applied my makeup.That's not an exaggeration.So, Great product.I will buy it again.I just wish it came in a bigger jar.

(More customer reviews)I originally discovered this stuff in College -- back in the 80s (showing my age here) and it was the coolest thing ever.I would put a little on and it would even out my skin tone and my boyfriend at the time thought I had gotten a tan.My skin was (and is) prone to acne and this powder never caused problems.The thing I really like about it is that it is so much easier (read ... FASTER) to apply than liquid foundation.I prefer to use a brush instead of the puff because it provides me with more control.

You have to get used to using this stuff -- it is easy to get too much on... in which case, it will not look natural with the rest of your skin tone.It is like adding spices to your cooking.You start with a little and if you don't like it, you can always add more.

Also, the key is to wait a minute or so before adding more.It truly does change color (often deepens) as it combines with the oils on your face.So put a very light dusting on, then start working on your eyeshadow to give it time to "set".If you still feel like you need a little more, then you can go with a second dusting.

For very light skin tones, (i'm fair to medium), I understand they have different shades now which might work better -- especially in the winter when it looks kind of wierd to have that "sun-kissed" look.

BTW, it really does work great as a natural fingernail color.you apply to your finger nails with a brush and then apply clear polish.

Philosophy The Present Clear Makeup Review

(More customer reviews)I have used The Present for 2 years.And I'm a *guy*.I am the director of a telecommunications consultancy and spend lots of time at conventions, in front of crowds, etc.I am extremely fair and pseudo natural blonde (blonde up until my 20's when it started getting darker... now it's chemically assisted).

The Present has been my salvation on the show floor, on stage and in front of cameras!And it continues to prove itself every day.

What to expect:
- A little goes a long way.
- You cannot put liquid or creme foundation over top of it.
- You need a really good cleanser before it and to remove it.
- It is *clear* so expect to see your skin under it.
- I find it best described as a "soft focus moisturizer".
- I recommend Philosophy's "Purity" cleanser to remove it.Regular soap doesn't really budge it.
- If you don't start with a pristinely clean face you won't get as good a result.

Why I use it:
1) Evens out my skin texture.I have large pores and patchy skin.
2) Gives my skin a radiant but still matte appearance, even under the most severe convention floor lighting.It's almost like having your face lightly airbrushed.
3) Locks in whatever moisturizer you put under it.It is also a *fantastic* moisturizer itself.
4) Provides a barrier for stage makeup - keeping my pores relatively clean when I have to wear it for camera work.(Yes, the guys on camera absolutely do wear makeup.)

Tips:
- If you have hormone issues, wild and crazy skin or your skin just needs a kick in the pants to get it back into shape, put The Present on in the morning, come home at night and wash your face, then put The Present on and wear it to bed.[My adult acne flareups have disappeared since starting this myself.]
- Use mineral makeup, powder, etc. over top of The Present.Creams and liquids WILL slide off.Philosphy's own "airbrush" foundation works perfectly with it.
- Remember The Present was originally designed to cover vulnerable skin after dermabrasion and acid skin peels.It acts like a second layer of skin.
- Wait for it to dry.2 minutes means 2 minutes.If it isn't drying you should use less or start with a dryer face.

It goes on smoothly with the included puff and controls shine for a long time--maybe not all day, but for several hours, at least. I have mostly normal/combination skin, with a forehead that can get oily and cheeks that tend toward dryness; this controlled shine all over without making any part of my face dry or itchy. It didn't reveal flaky patches or make the thin skin under my eyes look wrinkly. It's difficult to evaluate the finish because it doesn't really match my skin tone. I would expect a powder that only comes in light or medium to be more neutral, but this has a noticeable yellow tone.

Coastal Scents Contour and Blush Palette Review

Actually, I had often imagined something just like this contour & blush palette, but figured I would have to make it by taking the tins of powder out of their compacts and gluing them into some sort of flat palette. So, twenty years later, having never found the right palette or successfully getting much makeup out of its case, I finally found this by accident when it showed up with some other search on Amazon.

I can't say enough good things about this compact/palette - I use every color and I love that they are all matte (much more effective). This is a good sized palette (6"x9") with large pressed powders. Colors are true to the photo; white, light beige/tan, bright (slightly warm) pink, light peach, brown, and medium/dark cool pink. Every skin tone will be able to blend the perfect match, then use the light colors for highlighting, the bright pink (highly pigmented) for the apple of the cheek, the darker pink (less pigmented) for more of a blush/bronze effect, and the brown for mixing shades and for contouring like hiding upper eyelid bags or slimming the nose. I had a Lauren Hutton face disk with smaller tins of powders and creams that I liked but did not use many of the shades, and quit using it at all a while ago. This Coastal Scents palette could replace pounds of powders (stuffed in my bathroom, each in its plastic container), and be used much more often because it's so easy and versatile. If you like light makeup coverage, you can use this for most of your needs. If you want to brighten up your complexion, this is fast and easy, and you couldn't ask for better colors.

This is a superior product. Search on google/yahoo/whatever for Coastal Scents for their website where you will find more rave reviews. BTW, it is fragrance-free even though "scent" is part of the brand name.

I've used other similar products (bare escentuals, Jane Iredale, mineral wear, etc.) but this one is the best. I am 40+, have super pale skin with areas of redness that are hard to conceal and this covers so well, so flawlessly and doesn't create that aging, thick, caked-on look. (More customer reviews)I am in love with this product!I have always hated using foundation, but powders never had the coverage I needed.The first time I tried Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals, it looked terrible.But after a little practice, it is by far, the best foundation I have ever used.I have very blotchy skin, with dark red patches and acne scars.This product gives me the flawless skin nature didn't!

I have tried several of the competitor's products that claim to be mineral foundation, but none of them worked as well as the Bare Escentuals.In fact, none of them worked at all for me!

Be sure to follow the Swirl, Tap, Buff instructions, or it will not work right! I have also learned that using lotions of any kind before this product, will cause clumping in that area.I use Mineral Veil before the foundation when I have recently used lotion, or need extra coverage.

I have since stopped using this product, but still stand behind this review.I have battled cystic acne and acne vulgaris for 20 years or more (NOT caused, or even aggravated by this product).I have some signifigant scarring as a result of this.As my skin has aged, the scarring has become more noticeable.The Bare Minerals powder worked great to cover the redness of these scars.But since the surface of my face is no longer perfectly smooth due to these scars, the powder actually makes them MORE noticeable.I was very sad to give this product up, and I still think longingly of it while slathering on my goopy foundation.

So basically, Bare Minerals is wonderful, and I still highly recommend it.But if you have pits from severe acne scarring, it may not be the product for you.

(More customer reviews)I really have loved this product.I used bare minerals before this, and found that it irritated my skin, and dried it out.The Jane Iredale pressed powder feels like I have absolutely no make up on, and it looks really natural.I am also very surprised at how well it conceals bigger blemishes.Although it's definitely not a concealer.I also love that it is not clogging my pores but actually helping and protecting my skin.It is expensive but I think it's worth it, and it lasts a long time.I think mine has lasted almost a year.
