I still haven't tried a Mason Pearson brush, but I absolutely love this brush. The nylon bristles go all the way through my hair and massage my scalp, it feels wonderful and tingly. The boar bristles go nicely through and make my hair shiny and soft. I bought my daughter one too. I reccommend it, worth every penny and probably more.

However you will need to make sure to use a very loose long haired brush (all over face color type) kabuki brushes tend to be too dense but I would actually recommend buying a dusted brush (the kind salons use to get hair off of your neck available at beauty supply stores) that way you can use it on your face, legs, arms, chest..... you get the point! P.s. it has a little bit of glitter (more like glimmer) as how tiny the pieces are.
