Foundation makes a woman look older and less pretty unless it looks like you don't have any on and just have good skin.
That is what bare escentuals accomplishes. I could never go back to regular foundation. This kit is good to find the right colors for your completion.

(More customer reviews)I love this foundation because it does (almost) everything!!!The sunscreen is strong enough for daily wear (SPF 21). The moisturizer is enough for my relatively dry skin.It covers and does not irritate my (moderate) acne (yes, dry skin *and* acne, aren't I lucky?).It evens out my skin tone, covers dark circles, and acts as a great eye shadow base if I'm feeling ambitious.It leaves a natural looking finish that you can set with powder, but don't have to.One key piece of advice though:use a foundation brush to apply this makeup...it is so concentrated that without the brush I had trouble spreading it around my face.You really only do need a pea-sized dollop for a full face application, but in order to get it to all the parts of your face, you'll need a foundation brush.

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals All-Over Face Color Review

(More customer reviews)My sister recently purchased a BE starter kit, and she was so impressed that I decided to try it for myself.One of the extras that she bought was "Clear Radiance" all-over face color.I absolutely LOVED the color and very slight shimmer provided by this product.It is a great TRULY all-over face highlighter without being at all over-powering.

"Warmth" was also included in the starter kit.Being very pale, I was skeptical that I would be able to use such a dark bronzer-like product (and I definitely used too much on my first try), but with practice, I found that I was able to get a good bronze highlight without going overboard.MOST IMPORTANT HINT: You do have to be VERY careful to use a VERY small amount, especially for pale skin-tones.

Also, Warmth is a little bit finer powder than the foundation.Because of this, I have found that it tends to gather above the sifter rather than staying below the sifter.This causes quite a bit of trouble if you are trying to use the recommended minimal amount (sticks to lid, and you have to tap off as much as possible before swirl/tap/buff).I would recommend only removing part of the sticker covering the sifter, so that way only a couple/few sifter holes are open, leaving you with more control.

I liked Clear Radiance and Warmth SO much that I decided to try more all-over face colors.When looking at the color selections, I was drawn to Glee, Soft Focus Warmth, and Rose Radiance.I went to my local BE boutique, and the Glee was too purple for my skin tone (I'm sure it is spectacular on others, just wasn't right for me).

While looking at the Sephora BE online boutique, I saw the "Go Bare, Baby" kit which included Soft Focus Warmth (SF Warmth), Rose Radiance, Bare Radiance, and the Soft Focus Face Brush.Considering that I was already wanting SF Warmth (for my paler skin) and Rose Radiance as well as a softer face brush, I decided that the GBB kit was perfect.

SF Warmth is EXACTLY what you would expect.It has all the qualities of Warmth which I like, but just a little bit lighter, which is perfect for my pale skin.As I said before, I have learned to use regular Warmth; however, I will probably give that to my sister (slightly tanner than me) and use SF Warmth from now on.

Rose Radiance is perfect as a light blush (a little too dark for me to use all over), and I have been able to create a very nice look by layering Clear Radiance, SF Warmth, and Rose Radiance and using them on different parts of my face (all-over, cheeks, eyes).I think I will probably be needing to purchase a true blush for occassions which require a darker blush, but Clear & Rose Radiance are perfect for everyday.

I have not yet used Bare Radiance, but since it is so neutral, I imagine it will be another great choice for all-over color and also an interesting addition to eye effects, etc.The pots in the GBB kit are a bit smaller than full size all-over colors, but considering the tiny amount used each application, I think they will probably last quite a long time.I love BE's all-over colors, and there is a GREAT selection of different colors!

I am 39 and my skin tends to be a bit oily, and I get blemishes every so often. This product calms my skin down and makes it look beautiful for bed, which is nice for my husband too! It soaks up excess oil, and makes your skin feel nice and soft. Plumps up those tiny lines too. It is a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way. I am very pleased with this product so far, and I will update in a while to see if it's still working. As of today, two big thumbs up! UPDATE: Here we are over a year later (August 2007) and I am still loving Rare Minerals Skin Treatment; it actually delivers what it promises! My skin looks great and I will definitely re-purchase. A winner!

I at first thought it was user error.Maybe I didn't apply enough?So next time I was super generous in the application.Burned again.A friend even did a little experiment, covering one arm with traditional coppertone SPF 30 and the other arm with Bare Minerals SPF 30.Guess what?The arm with regular sunscreen was fine at the end of the day, the arm with Bare Minerals was a little burned.

I noticed that the areas around my tank top straps burnt worse -- probably because my application there wasn't thorough.Ok, so it provides a tiny bit of sun protection.But SPF 30?No way.The rest of me still burned, just not as badly.

(More customer reviews)Like many people, I had a secret hope that this product would somehow work miracles. Well, once I rid myself of those magical thoughts, I became a fan of this makeup for what it is: a foundation that feels light like a powder and doesn't look like stage makeup when applied.

Here's my summary:
1. It DOES look like makeup once it's applied, but it covers well without a caked-on look.

2. Some reviewers have said that it stays on after exercising. I have not had this experience. For me, it tends to wear off after about 6-8 hours -- more quickly if I'm especially active.

3. Like other reviewers, it took me about a week to get the application right. I used too much in the beginning.

4. If you're trying this makeup for the first time, I recommend getting the Starter Kit. The brushes are very important . . . and fun.

Urban Decay Razor Sharp Ultra Definition Finishing Powder Review

(More customer reviews)First off, the packaging of this product is somewhat useless in my opinion.The base is turned to an OPEN position in order to release powder, yet I have to tap the sponge on my hand a few times before getting any powder.However, when in the CLOSED position, powder gets everywhere inside my makeup bag.The attached sponge is also a little hard to get used to.As I mentioned before, I have to tap the product on my hand just to get the powder started and then it is hard to control the amount of powder released.I think this product would work much better WITHOUT the attached sponge.

Now, on to the powder.When I first applied the powder, my face looked absolutely FLAWLESS.All freckles, redness, etc. was covered and I had a perfect airbrushed look.This was certainly great until a photo was taken of me and I could see streaks of "white" powder.This was not noticeable after application, so I'm thinking either a) flashes on cameras do not mesh well with this product or b) the sponge doesn't do an adequate job of smoothing out the powder.In the future, I will definitely try to blend this product with a brush to see if the outcome is better.

If the "streaks" of powder were not apparent in the photos, I would definitely recommend this product despite the downfalls of the packaging.I certainly look forward to see the opinions of others or if anyone else experienced the streaks when using a flash on their camera.

It wouldn't of killed them to make it more stylish or less black and weapon like.

The pros: very blendable, does not look dry or powder-y at all.

The cons: was too dark for my pale skin, it was also a tad on the orange side.

I would say that as long as you don't have super pale skin, you will probably like this foundation.

It provides great coverage - even under my eyes, where I have terrible dark circles - and is not as messy as other mineral makeup cosmetics like Bare Essentials. When I used Bare, I used to have to use an additional concealer, too, but not with the Pur Minerals foundation. It was also really easy to find a good color to match my skin tone - and I am Italian, so I have yellow undertones, and it has always been hard for me to find good matching foundations in the past. Best of all, the makeup does not seem to clog my pores. I am not getting as many breakouts as I did in the past, and all I did was switch to Pur Minerals. I highly recommend you try it!

(More customer reviews)The BARE MINERALS REFILLABLE COMPACT sounded like a good idea since it allows you to fill it with your favorite Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation powder, comes with a brush, and fits easily into a purse, bag or pocket(though it is a little thick) and lets you touch up that face on-the-go.

It does what it says but it can be a minor nuisance to re-powder. First, the compact comes with a plastic lid/sifter that keeps the powder from spilling out and also has a tab that holds the small brush in place. That's great and it pops out easily, to fill the compact up.

The tricky part is that the tab that holds the brush is also the tab that you must pull open, and parts of the plastic lid swings out like a door, so that you can access the powder, which is under another plastic lid that has sifter holes in it. From there you dip the brush and swirl, tap and apply. But once the door is open, the powder can spill out, and when you close it, the air pressure blows some of the powder all over the place, so you have to be careful not to get any on your clothes.

But I guess that's the trade off with using loose powder. You won't be able to do a quick touch up in a dark car or walking down the street, like you can with a sponge and pressed powder, because you really need to pay attention when you open the plastic secondary lid, swirl the brush in the powder, and then apply it to your face.

Another issue is that the new Bare Minerals powders come with a "click, lock, go" sifter, so the top part of the jar, under the cap, does not come off. You must turn the sifter to expose the holes and then spank the jar upside down to fill the compact. Not sure if the new jars with "click, lock, go" would be better to take on-the-go than this compact, the compact is only slightly smaller than the a .21-oz. jar of Bare Minerals Matte, but then you'd still need to carry a brush, so I guess it evens out.

The Bare Escentuals bareMinerals(R) Refillable Buffing Brush is another option to carry BM or other loose powder on-the-go but that's even harder to use and fill than this compact.

This compact comes in a box with a nice black zippered carrying pouch, the flat compact brush pictured, and the gray compact. It does not come with Bare Minerals powder.
