(More customer reviews)Ok, I LOVE this product....It does wonders for "not so perfect skin."I have "normal" skin.Not perfect, but not terrible.It occasionally gets oily, and then occasionally is very dry.I love this because when I use it, I feel like one of those celebrities that look like they have flawless, airbrushed skin.It really does do wonders.

However, I can't really recommend this product.I love it, but there is something out there that does the same exact job this does, for less $$$.Philosophy's The Present Clear Skin Perfector is the same exact thing in my opinion, being that I have used both.It is cheaper and you get more in the tube.I would check out The Present before buying this.Philosophy products always do it better!!!

But if you're hooked to the Smashbox name and don't mind paying a little extra,get this product!You'll love it!

It was dry, heavy, grainy and you really had to rub hard just to get it like that. I have fair, dry, rosacea type skin and was looking for a good cover up makeup. Sorry, this isn't it. I have the Cover FX in liquid form and that is much better. I would not recommend.

(More customer reviews)I struggle with oily breakthrough, even though I am middle aged.This compact looked like the ticket and for that price I assumed it was the real deal.The product comes with a tiny cheap peace of foam for the sponge.It leaves the 'powder' looking dirty after a few uses.I think the product works to a certain extent, but it needs a better applicator.

Benefit Cosmetics Dr. Feelgood Review

(More customer reviews)Like some others mentioned, I was a little confused and disappointed when I followed the directions to apply Dr Feelgood OVER my makeup.(I seriously wonder if that's a misprint?) It mattified my face, but didn't do anything for the appearance of my pores and it wiped off my blush.

So then I tried it again, putting it on first, before anything else and VOILA! I LOVE this stuff.I have huge pores, and with a little smudge off this over my cheeks, they completely disappear.

I have combination skin, and it's been getting drier on my cheeks, the older I get.Even using this over dry skin, I had no problems.

So the only reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 is that it doesn't work well with the "dewy" look.It's very, very matte.(But I'll happily make the sacrifice to make my pores disappear!)

I think the price is fine - the stuff lasts forever and it isn't a drugstore brand, after all.All makeup and products from companies like this cost a bit more.I used to carry it in my bag all day and then I realized that there's no point - I only need to put it on once in the morning and it lasts all day.

As for the controversial smell - I love it, I think it smells fresh and clean and slightly lemon-y, and the packaging is terribly cute.

Stila #28 Smudge Pot Brush Review

(More customer reviews)I highly recommend this brush (and also the Smudge Pots eyeliner!) - even though it's a bit pricey, there is nothing better. It has two ends, one fine and pointy to do a smooth even line in one stroke, and one that is short-bristled which is perfect for smudging. You definitely need a brush for applying Smudge Pots eyeliner, and that's the best brush I've ever used. Make sure you clean the brush with some mild soap and water between uses - I forgot to clean it the one day and it gets hard and doesn't line as smoothly - no harm done, it washed off perfectly fine. I usually just wash mine immediately after using it and let it dry all day so it's ready for me the next time I need to apply.

What I mean by that is: Folks, this is a LONG WEARING foundation that wont rub off. it is not like a regular foundation that will transfer and smear off 30 minutes after you put it on: what that means is, you have to apply it correctly the first time.
On other sites I have heard people say its heavy and mask-like, it makes me ask the question if those ladies have ever used long wearing foundation before? with regular foundation, you can put a lot on, then smear it around, work it into your skin, then stand back and look at it; if it is un-even, you can take a sponge and blend it, and if its too thick in some spots, you can wipe some off, etc.. You CANNOT DO THAT WITH LONG WEARING FOUNDATION!:)

With Long wearing foundation ( whether its this brand or Revlon Colorstay or any other ) you have to approach it differently.. you put a TINY bit into your hand, get some on your fingertips, and apply to a SMALL area at a time, and you have to work fast! blend a small amount lightly and quickly into your skin, and then move on to the next area, and so on, until your face is covered. this product is thin and it dries quickly, and once its dry, thats it.. you cant take a sponge and smear it around or blend it in.. you have to do that the first time, while you are initially putting it on, because once it dries, thats it; if you try to layer more on top of it, it WILL look thick and cakey and feel awful on your skin, and it WILL show your pores and your fine lines, etc.. THIS STUFF IS NOT MEANT TO BE APPLIED IN A THICK LAYER! when applying, you must work quick, use a small amount of product, and blend it quickly and thinly with a light touch. if you try and apply this the same way you apply regular
( non long wearing) foundation, it wont work, it will look cakey and thick and un-even and you will hate it; however, if you you apply it quickly, in a very THIN layer and blend it very fast as you are applying it, you will end up with coverage that is even, VERY light feeling on your face, VERY natural looking, and it will STAY that way 16+ hours. No, I dont work for the company.. its just that I have been using Colorstay by Revlon since it 1st came out ( was that 1996? ) and I know how to apply long wearing foundation. it took me lots of practice the first time i used a long wearing foundation, and I made the same mistakes, and it felt heavy, showed all of my imperfections, and looked and felt like a mask.. UNTIL I learned how to apply it. I have a very un-even skin tone ( redness, blotchiness ) and have large pores, oily skin, and some mild blemishes, and yet when I am done applying this product, my skin tone is even, all of my imperfections are covered, and it feels so light on my skin, I cant even tell I have it on. it lasts all day and looks smooth and natural. If you choose the correct color and learn how to apply it, you will not find a better foundation.

(More customer reviews)I bought this when looking for L'Oreal's Eye De Crease.Figured I would give it a try.I'm a woman of color, African American, medium skin tone and this works well.I was afraid my skin would look a bit chalky or cakey wearing this product but it doesn't at all.After a full day of wearing and a nap, here are my observations:

Product glides on smoothly and feels nice on skin.
It seems as though I needed less makeup and concealer to get the same desired affect on my face.I spent less time buffing my foundation (I use mineral powder foundation from Monave) and a goat hair kabuki brush.Sometimes I use a synthetic flat top brush but haven't yet with this product.
I napped (we have a toddler and I'm a stay at home mom) and my makeup appeared to be the same.I was surprised at this since I toss and move about while I am asleep.
Throughout the day, I touched my face and it felt very smooth, like I wasn't wearing any makeup at all.
When Baby and I hugged throughout the day, I didn't leave makeup on her clothes as I sometimes do.

All in all, I like this product.I wish there were another size available as tiny little half ounce jars of things just seems wasteful to me.All of that packaging for something so small.

Oh, I also have seborrheic dermatitis (though it is greatly controlled) and no flaking or skin irritation so far.

I like this product and would buy it again.I did not give it 5 stars because this is my first time buying and using a makeup primer, there may be something greater out there.I'll update after using the product over an extended amount of time.

Update:So, I've been using this product for a few weeks now and I REALLY like it.I forgot to wear it one day and there is a noticeable difference in makeup when I don't wear this product.We even went to the beach for a full day and my makeup was still great.At the end of the day, my face looks as good as it does right after I've applied my makeup.That's not an exaggeration.So, Great product.I will buy it again.I just wish it came in a bigger jar.

Smashbox HALO HYDRATING PERFECTING POWDER .75 oz (21 g) Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item three days ago and so far I really like it.

What I like is the foundation applies like a loose powder foundation but it travels like a solid. The powder is compressed and is placed under a circle shaped disc and the disc has lots of little blades which you twist to shave off as much product as you need (see product image). When you shave the compressed powder it of course turns into loose powder.

I tend to have acne breakouts on my chin and jawbone area so it's too soon to tell whether or not this product will cause me to breakout.

This product is not a mineral powder which is popular right now and I find it to be more moisturizing than mineral powder foundations.Prior to switching to Smashbox's HALO I have been using a combination of Bare Escentuals (BE) and Philosophy The Super Natural foundation to help with acne breakout and because I like a lighter coverage than what liquid foundations provide.The Smashbox HALO foundation provides the lighter coverage I like but like BE you can build up the coverage which is something I had to be careful with because I managed to get it built up a bit heavy around my nose area where my skin tends to be a bit more oily.

The coverage has lasted me all day with a bit of wear off under the nose piece of my glasses. My skin tends to be more on the dry side though so if you have very oily skin I would recommend using a foundation primer designed to control oil since this powder does contain moisturizers. I am able to feel the moisturizers and I think this contributes a bit to the wear off under the nose piece of my glasses and build up around my nose.Smashbox HALO is advertised that it will "refresh" your skin and the salesperson who sold me the product compared it to Prescriptive Magic Liquid Powder but it doesn't compare. Prescriptive's Magic Liquid Powder would leave behind almost a wet, cooling feeling when applied and the Smashbox HALO does not.

Smashbox HALO'spowder does not sit on top of your skin but rather looks like it absorbs into it , my husband commented that it looked far more natural on me then what I was previously wearing ( I was wearing Bare Escentual). The look of the powder is more natural, it is not meant to give a matte finish so again if you have oily skin expect to have shine so think of purchasing something which helps to absorb oil.

I'm in my early 30's and do not have any wrinkles ... yet so I can't speak on how well this product works on camouflaging wrinkles and fine lines.

Another note about Smashbox HALO is it does not have any SPF in it so make sure your moisturizer does.
I use to carry in my purse Philosophy's The Super Natural mineral foundation to refresh my powder during the day because it had SPF 15 and it was travel friendly.

The color of Smashbox HALO powder turned out to match me better than Bare Escentual (BE) Fairly Light did. Where BE's color Light was too pink for me the Fairly Light had the yellow undertone I needed but it was a bit too light so I warmed it up with the Tinted Mineral Veil.

To help you out if you are trying to find a good color to match your skin tone I found Smashbox HALO's color Light to be a great match.I have a yellow undertone to my skin but my skin tone is fairly light. I have natural very dark black/brown hair with dark brown eyes and my skin color has yellow under tones.

My best friend is blond with hazel eyes and has a very light skin tone with some redness but not pinkish undertones and she ended up using the Fair. I think she may have more bluish undertones but any pink undertone makeup just stands out on her like sore thumb.

Speaking of redness, the Smashbox HALO foundation worked very well in covering up her redness. I myself have some blemishes which need cover up and by a foundation brush instead of the kabuki brush I was able to apply the powder a bit stronger in areas I need more coverage and still keep it natural looking.

Smashbox HALO comes with its own travel size kabuki brush which I don't care for. It's not that soft but if you compare it to the kabuki brush Bare Escentual's provides then it feels like cashmere.

The price is a bit high but almost all Smashbox products are pretty expensive. I compared using it to using my Bare Escentuals which costs about $44.00 (Mineral Veil plus the powder foundation) to $64.00 (if you use an all over face color such as Warmth) and for $59.00 dollars I'm actually paying less in the long run.

I've also managed to cut my beauty routine down switching to Smashbox HALO. It's a one step application compared to Bare Escentuals were I would have to first apply the face color, second apply Warmth and then last apply Mineral Veil.OR if I did it Bare Escentuals instructs then I should have been , first applying the Bare Escentuals primer , second applying the face color ....you get the picture.

So all and all I'm happy with this foundation. If I had to give a break down of the good and bad it would go in this order.

Good:
1.Good coverage
2.Moisturizing
3.Portability

Bad
1.Limited color selection
2.Women with oily skin will need to use an oil absorbing primer
3.No SPF

So a little more than a month later and here are my thoughts....

I'm still using HALO and I still love this foundation.My biggest concern about the powder is how will my hormonal acne react to this?Well a month later and I do not feel that this powder has contributed to any acne flair up.

If any suggestion could be made to Smashbox it would be please add SPF to this product. For now I am grateful that at least my moisturizer has SPF 30.
